My name is M J Hawkes. At the age of six I wrote my first novel, a poorly-spelled story about a little boy who gained a pet crocodile. From my earliest memory I wanted to be a writer and as I grew up my stories became longer and better-spelled, until I completed my first full-length novel over ten years ago. I read widely across a range of interests, and my interests inform my writing; from history to science-fiction, from mythology to religion. I write so that my words can inspire readers, transporting them to other worlds; worlds that once have been, that are, and that will never be.
I have built this website to publish my writing and make it available for anyone to read, anywhere in the world. It is a new vision for publishing, seeking to liberate authors from any external gatekeepers. My vision is to allow readers and writers to connect directly without having to pay a publisher, bookseller, and distributor for the privilege.
If you enjoy my writing, and would like to see more of it, then please consider supporting me. Currently my time to concentrate on writing is restricted as I have to earn my living with a full-time job. But the more support I receive, the more writing I will be able to do, and the more of my work will be available for you to read.
First, and foremost, please share my work with others – via twitter, facebook, or any other social media. Secondly, writers eat and breath constructive feedback, so please, let me know what you think in the comments sections.
Most of my work is completely free, and always will be. However, I have reserved some content for my supporters as a reward, including the final parts of my novels. If you enjoy my writing, and would like to see more of it, then please consider a one-off donation via Paypal, or a monthly subscription with Patreon. Supporters will receive a password allowing them to access the rest of my work.
Patreon is a service allowing creatives around the world to build support to continue creating what their fans love. Payments can be stopped without any undue difficulty.
(Either donating or subscribing will send you a message with the password. If you can’t see the password, or you have lost it, then please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org)
No writer can write without encouragement. Thank you for your support.
